Return to work assist
As a result of recent legislative changes the Return to work
assist program is no longer run by the Worker's Compensation
Regulator (formerly Q-COMP). The responsibility for operating
Return to work programs now sits with insurers but will be
accredited by the Regulator. The process for accreditation is being
developed and will be communicated shortly.
Under the new legislation insurers must provide accredited
Return to work (RTW) programs for common law claimants and must
take all steps reasonably practicable to secure rehabilitation and
early return to work for injured workers. Insurers must develop and
maintain a RTW program in consultation with the employer, worker
and registered treatment providers.
As a result of the changes Return to work assist will no longer
be accepting new referrals for either common law or statutory
claims. We will be working with insurers to return current open
common law participants back to work. Any current statutory
participants will be linked to external support services and
transitioned off the program.
