Unmasking psych injuries - a look behind
the diagnosis

Anxiety, stress and depression - the three most common disorders
seen in workers' compensation claims. But what are they really,
what is it like to have one and what challenges are involved in
their management? Join us in unmasking the meaning behind
these diagnoses and what they mean for individuals and their return
to work.
We've enlisted the help of mental health professionals Dr Josie
Sundin, Julie Fox and Carolyn Ritchie to provide you with the most
up to date information at these workshops.
Dr Josie Sundin is a psychiatrist with almost 10
years' experience at Q-COMP's Medical Assessment Tribunal as well
as having an extensive medico-legal background, playing an active
role on Q-CAT, the Mental Health Court of Qld and the Medico-Legal
Society of Qld. Dr Sundin also enjoys teaching others and is a
Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Dr Sundin
will be our guest presenter in Brisbane central (12 and 19 June),
Ipswich and Brisbane South.
Carolyn Ritchie is a psychologist who operates
her own practice and will use her lengthy experience in
psychological counselling and return to work services to provide
her perspective on psychological diagnoses and the challenges that
come along with them. Carolyn looks forward to sharing with you her
advice on managing people suffering stress, anxiety and depression.
Carolyn will be presenting at our workshops in Mackay, Townsville,
Rockhampton, Gladstone, Cairns, Maryborough and Bundaberg.
Julie Fox, Executive Manager at Q-COMP and
clinical psychologist has a wealth of experience regarding
psychological injuries and will open your eyes to the many
different perspectives involved when somebody suffers from stress,
anxiety or depression. She will also help you develop a deeper
understanding of these commonly diagnosed disorders and change the
way you think about them through experiential learning. Julie will
be presenting in Brisbane North, Mt Isa, Gold Coast, Toowoomba,
Brisbane central (22 May) and the Sunshine Coast.
The workshop is free for all to attend and RRTWC's who attend are
eligible for one year renewal on their registration. Please note
the renewal date begins from the date of the workshop and is
non-cumulative with other renewal activities.
