Solutions for workers' compensation
and rehabilitation
In a first, Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland (CCIQ)
will work together with Q-COMP and WorkCover Queensland to host a
series of rehabilitation and return to work seminars across
Queensland.
CCIQ State Manager for Workplace Health and Safety Jo Kitney said
the aim of the seminar series was to help businesses understand
they need to make workplace rehabilitation a priority.
"Investing in workplace rehabilitation will help you manage the
cost of injuries in your workplace, reduce WorkCover premiums and
make returning to work more achievable for injured workers," Ms
Kitney said.
"The joint seminar series brought to you by Q-COMP, WorkCover and
CCIQ will help provide you with practical guidelines and
publications to improve workplace rehabilitation programs.
"Hear presentations from WorkCover, Q-COMP and the Chamber about
workers' compensation, the importance of education of good
rehabilitation and return to work practices and how you can achieve
better return to work outcomes.
"Each presenter will also have a trade stand at each event,
allowing participants who require additional information the
opportunity to talk directly to each presenter.
"CCIQ, Q-COMP and WorkCover Queensland are all key players in the
workers' compensation industry and this is a great opportunity for
local businesses to get information at a one-stop shop."
The seminar series will run across Queensland at a number of
different locations over July and August. Cost is $25 per
person.

Q-COMP is an independent statutory authority
whose prime function is to regulate the Queensland's workers'
compensation scheme. The organisation works with scheme partners
such as insurers and the Department of Justice and Attorney-General
and Industrial Relations, and key stakeholders to balance the needs
of workers and employers to ensure a fair and efficient scheme for
all. Q-COMP has a range of diverse services and acts as the scheme
regulator, educator and the facilitator of legal and medical
dispute resolution.
WorkCover Queensland is the main provider of
workers' compensation insurance in Queensland. A WorkCover
Queensland accident insurance policy covers injured workers for
their lost wages and medical costs for a workplace accident, and
covers employers against these costs and possible common law
claims. Their key focus is on a prompt and effective return to work
for injured workers. They work with the injured worker, the
employer, and medical and allied health providers to help
rehabilitate the injured worker so they can return to work quickly
and safely.
Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland
(CCIQ) is the state's peak industry body and most
effective business lobby group, representing the interests of over
25,000 businesses, across all industry sectors and in all regions.
CCIQ's Business Safety Team offer assistance for business in
dealing with workers' compensation and rehabilitation issues
through strategic review of workers' compensation and injury
management systems and development of training, systems and
resources to enhance skills and knowledge in early intervention
prevention and management.
