What to expect
Before your medical assessment tribunal
Your insurer should let you know you are being referred to a medical assessment tribunal and will send us the referral paperwork. We will contact you with an appointment date (for about 6 weeks from when we received the referral).
After your medical assessment tribunal
You will usually receive your written medical assessment tribunal decision within seven to fourteen days of your appointment.
Is the decision final?
Medical assessment tribunal decisions are always final - if you believe you have fresh medical evidence that the medical assessment tribunal doctors wouldn't have known, you can ask your insurer for the decision to be reviewed by the panel.
Being represented at your medical assessment tribunal
You may decide to bring a legal or union representative with you to your medical assessment tribunal - you will need to pay any costs for this.
