Retiring chairpersons
As of 30 June 2010, chairpersons Dr Lloyd Toft (Orthopaedic), Dr
Frank Sullivan (Ophthalmology) and Dr Jenny Byth (Dermatology)
retired from the Specialty Medical Assessment Tribunal
panels.
Dr Sullivan was first appointed to the tribunals as an Alternate
member in 1967, Dr Toft began his service on the tribunals in 1987
as an Alternate Member and Dr Byth started with the Tribunals
in 1994. All three doctors were appointed as chairpersons in
2001.
These doctors played a key role in the tribunal process over the
many years and they will be missed not only for their expertise and
experience but for their professionalism and genuine interest in
the well being of injured workers within the Queensland workers'
compensation scheme.
To acknowledge their contributions we hosted a dinner at the United
Service Club on Tuesday 22 June 2010. Dr Byth was unfortunately
unable to attend due to other commitments.
