Right to Information Act 2009

The Right to Information Act 2009 came in to operation on 1 July 2009. It gives a right of access to information in the government's possession or under the government's control unless, on balance, it is contrary to the public interest to give the access.

The Right to Information Act 2009 replaces the Freedom of Information Act, and applications for access to information made under the Right to Information Act will continue to be managed by our Legal Services Unit.
