Comparative assessment of permanent impairment using AMA IV and AMA V

The comparative assessment of AMA IV and V has been finalised and each Chair was provided with a copy of the final discussion paper.

The paper was presented to the Q-COMP Board on the 30th November and a copy provided to the workers' compensation policy unit at the Department of Justice and the Attorney General.

A recommendation has been made to transition from AMA IV and the Table of Injuries to AMA V. The paper also recommends the development of a Queensland specific guide to assessment of PI to accompany AMA5, based on the New South Wales WorkCover Guideline to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment with modifications based on the recommendations proposed by the respective Chairpersons.

We will keep you up to date with any further feedback from the discussion paper as well as any updates to decisions made by the Q-COMP Board and the Department of Justice and the Attorney General on this matter.

Those members wishing to obtain a copy of the discussion paper or have any questions can do so by contacting Michael Francis on 07 3020 6401.
