Updated QOTE and regulatory tables
From 1 July 2011, QOTE (Queensland Ordinary Time Earnings) will
be updated for the new financial year. The new QOTE amount
effective from 01/07/2011 is $1,263.20. This is a 2.85% increase on
the previous year.

Update on move from AMA 4 to AMA 5 guide
In the pursuit of greater uniformity for assessment of permanent
impairment, the Heads of Workers' Compensation Authorities and the
Office of Fair and Safe Work Queensland are investigating the
merits of the Queensland workers' compensation jurisdiction
transitioning from using AMA4 and the Table of Injuries to using
AMA5 with an accompanying guide based on that developed and used by
WorkCover New South Wales.

Tribunal Chair delivers insights into what scheme data can tell us
On Saturday 11 June 2011, Dr John North, Chairman of the
Orthopaedic Assessment Tribunal, delivered a presentation to the
Australian Orthopaedic Association Scientific Conference which
highlighted some important considerations for insurers and medical
practitioners relating to shoulder surgery for workers with a
diagnosis of frozen shoulder.
