With the rollover into the 2012 financial year, we'll be releasing our annual statistics report in September. In the meantime, here is a wrap-up of the key trends in the scheme.
Statutory claims
Statutory claims are up approximately 2% from last year. Also on the increase are psychological / psychiatric claims, which have shown a 7% increase from 2009/10 - driven by the non-government sector.
Common Law claims
Common law lodgements are showing a 4% reduction from last year. The average cost of a common law claim is also down from 2009/10, showing a 5% reduction. These are interesting results given increasing common law numbers and costs (pre 2010) was a major catalyst for the 2010 scheme reform.
Review applications are up approximately 12% from the previous financial year.
