Standard form review decisions

On 1 July 2009, our Review Unit will launch a new pilot to provide review decisions in a shortened format when we are confirming the insurer's decision about physical injuries and terminations.

These decisions will be referred to as 'standard form review decisions', and the initiative will provide the applicant and other parties with a review decision that makes reference to the most relevant evidence relied on.

The decision details the insurer's decision, the relevant section of the Act, the grounds for review and the factual evidence.

It also provides the opportunity to request an 'extended form review decision' that will go into more detail of the evidence gathered. But a request for an extended form review decision does not provide the opportunity to submit further evidence or change the review decision.

We'll continue to ensure transparency throughout the review process by keeping all parties informed of the submissions received and the evidence gathered.

It's anticipated standard form review decisions will allow us to let all parties know the review decision in a more efficient manner.

We look forward to your feedback on the pilot and upon receipt of a standard form review decision.
