Worker pleads guilty of providing false and misleading information regarding past history of back injuries

An Aged Care Employers Self-Insurance Group worker pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 17 November 2011 of providing false and misleading information to the insurer in relation to her past history of back injuries and back pain.

 

The Industrial Magistrate noted that the workers' compensation system relied on the honesty of claimants and that fraud and fraudulent statements were a serious matter. She was fined $3,000 and ordered to pay restitution of $6,127.66.
