Insurer Report

The Review Unit is looking at ways of streamlining the process to ensure that workers, employers and insurers needs are met within an optimal timeframe. In doing so, we have considered the legislators intention and purpose and are aligning the processes accordingly.

To date the changes to the review process include:

 

• Applications for review will no longer be taken over the phone. Experience has shown that applicants have made an emotional decision to lodge their application over the phone and then don't follow it up as the review process continues.

 

• Right of appearance interviews are now restricted to the applicant only, which is a legislative requirement. This means that insurers will no longer be given a right of appearance.

 

• All applications for extensions of time will be assessed to ensure that the purpose and intention of the legislation is maintained.
