Review Unit update

Annual insurer survey

Your feedback is important and helps us to improve our customer service.

You'll be receiving the details on our annual survey on review processes shortly and it would be appreciated if you could take a couple of minutes to tell us what you think.

Results will be published in the next issue of Q-COMP Insurer Report (your feedback is confidential and individual responses will not be identified).

The survey closes on 16 October 2009.

Increase in applications for review

The number of applications for review received in 08/09 totalled 2,651, resulting in over an 11% increase to the 2,381 received in 07/08.

Despite the increase in application of reviews received in 08/09, there's been a 3% decrease in the number of appeals in the same period.

Executive Manager Review and Administration Bill Fisher says while the workload has increased, we're committed to a transparent process, open and honest communication with all parties, and most importantly quality and consistency of our decision making.

To help with the workload, the Review Unit is moving to a four team structure (from three) and is presently reviewing applications to recruit additional Review Officers.

The self-insured employers team will continue with Cass Rose as Team Leader.
