• Do I need to be accredited with Q-COMP to provide services in Queensland? No, but you do need to meet the requirements of your relevant health registration board to practise in Queensland.
• How do I get paid?

  For accepted claims, invoice WorkCover Queensland or the relevant self-insured employer. You should check that the worker has a current workers' compensation medical certificate from a doctor or dentist to cover any services you provide before you start treatment. If the compensation application has been rejected, you'll need to invoice the worker or the employer (where services were requested by the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator).

• How do I get further approval for services?

  Submit a Provider management plan (PMP)  as per the Table of costs and guidelines to the insurer for approval:

  • prior to starting any treatment extending beyond seven (7) sessions from the first date of consultation (for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors and osteopaths) 
  • for other allied health providers refer to the relevant Table of costs and guidelines.
  • for any service which requires prior approval from the insurer.
• What's the difference between a progress, standard and comprehensive report?

  A progress report is a brief summary of the worker's progress. A standard report provides relevant information about the worker's compensable injury and may be appropriate where there has been a shift or change in the original/initial goals for the program. A comprehensive report is used when return to work and/or treatment is extremely complex and is usually provided following an examination or re-examination of the worker. • How do I know which report to use?

  Insurers and providers often have different expectations of a report. Often, the insurer just needs a professional opinion as they assume valid clinical reasoning has been used to arrive at the recommendations and comments. Our tip is to ask the insurer:

  • what they want the report for and what questions they want addressed
  • what level of documentation they are expecting.

  Content is more important that volumes of information.
