The Regional network program has gained considerable momentum over the last couple of months and we're excited to announce the appointment of two additional regional representatives from Rockhampton and Townsville. Our newest representatives are a welcomed addition to our existing team from Mt Isa, Cairns and Mackay.
This brings the network up to five representatives from a variety of professions. Our representatives are:
Carolyn Ritchie (Psychologist) - Mackay
Kerry Stingel (Occupational Therapist) - Cairns
Jordan Chapman (Physiotherapist) - Mt Isa
Anna Nicholls (Occupational Therapist) - Townsville
Rob Stanton (Exercise Physiologist) - Rockhampton
The representatives have been working on establishing network opportunities in their respective regions and forums for allied health providers and rehabilitation and return to work coordinators have started.
One of the first forums facilitated a presentation by psychologist Simone Fischer, which explored the concept of mindfulness and strategies for allied health professionals when working with people who may have acquired a secondary psychological injury.
As part of our strategy to deliver education and support to our
stakeholders in regional areas,
Q-COMP has delivered a workshop aimed at normalising mental illness
within the workplace. These workshops were held in Mackay,
Gladstone and Rockhampton in late November, and feedback has been
very positive.
We were fortunate to have our regional representative from Mackay co-present at this workshop, providing attendees with the opportunity to meet Carolyn Ritchie and find out more information about future initiatives that will be offered in this region.
As the year is quickly coming to an end, Q-COMP is committed to supporting the regions by collaborating with our regional representatives over the Christmas break to determine the needs of these areas and develop appropriate and innovative educational resources to be delivered in early 2012.
