Return to work assist good-news story

One of the many amazing return to work journeys shared through the Awards is that of Jo Durant, who turned her life around after an injury with the help of Return to work assist.

Jo had been working as a night filler when she injured her back through repetitive lifting, resulting in a permanent impairment and constant pain which effected every area of her life, from shopping for groceries to picking her kids up from school.

Unable to return to her physically demanding role, Jo contacted Return to work assist, a free program that connects injured workers with training and job services, where she was referred to a training program to complete her Cert III in Business.

The company that ran the training course was so impressed by Jo's attitude and abilities that they soon offered her a job as a Training Officer, which she accepted.

Jo now has three qualifications, and is training for her fourth and says that the injury has been one of the best things that's happened for her career.

"I used to do administrative work and night-fill, and now I'm a trainer and have qualifications." Jo said.

Jo's amazing attitude and determination to get back to work makes her truly deserving of being named a Finalist in the Return to work Awards.
