Nominations are now open for our Return to work Awards 2010The awards, which are held at the conclusion of the Return to work Conference and Expo, is the only event in Queensland to recognise outstanding achievements in helping injured workers return to work. The success of the inaugural event in 2009 has seen it evolve in 2010 to further cater to the needs of the workers' compensation industry in Queensland. The theme for this year's awards, "Above & Beyond", celebrates the essence of what this event is all about; the essential work undertaken to develop and improve a strong return to work culture. Everyday, injured workers, employers, case managers and rehabilitation and return to work coordinators are approaching the return to work process proactively, and going above and beyond their role descriptions to ensure success. In 2010, the Q-COMP awards event has grown to incorporate four categories, consisting of nine awards covering all aspects of the return to work process including the introduction of a new Case Management Achievement Award. The new Case Management Achievement Award has been developed to ensure that the important work case managers do to facilitate a worker's rehabilitation and successful return to work is given the chance to be acknowledged. In 2009, the Return to work Awards received over 500 nominations from rural, regional and metropolitan areas all over Queensland. Elizabeth Woods, Chief Executive Officer for Q-COMP, believes the awards are a fantastic initiative, especially in light of the recent compensation issues. "The Return to work Awards are providing the industry with the opportunity it deserves - to promote new initiatives in helping injured workers return to work and recognising the parties who are going above and beyond in this process through-out Queensland," said Ms Woods. "The huge success of last years awards, which saw over 500 nominations, allowed us to hear some truly inspirational and humbling stories and we are very much looking forward to building on this success in 2010. We would like to urge those in the industry who are going above and beyond to nominate themselves or someone who they know deserves recognition for the outstanding work they do. With nine awards for injured workers, employers, case managers and Rehabilitation and return to work coordinators, our awards ensure that everyone who goes above and beyond in their role is given an opportunity to shine and receive the recognition they deserve." Anthony Seng, a winner from the Injured Worker Achievement Award category at the 2009 Return to work Awards, believes participating in the awards was a great way to bring industry attention to the inspirational efforts of those workers who suffer injury in the workplace. "The recognition Q-COMP's awards provided my story of overcoming a serious injury, keeping myself motivated throughout the rehabilitation process, the support my friends, family and employer provided to me was humbling and a nice indication from the industry at the process injured workers returning to work go through," said Mr Seng. The Return to work Awards recognises each finalist with a certificate, with each award winner to receive up to $2,000 in prize money. Award nominations for the Return to work Awards close Friday July 2nd 2010.
