Education resources for your patient about their injury

As a treating provider, patients will look to you for education and advice as they are often confused about their injury, treatment and expected rehabilitation timeframe.

You may have an already established education program and fact sheets to help your injured workers understand their injury and expectations regarding treatment approaches, however we would like to share three websites with you that provide quality education products:

eOrthopod
This American website has a thorough patient education library containing many videos and printable fact sheets for a number of different orthopaedic injury types and areas. The fact sheets outline basic anatomy and the surgical and non-surgical techniques that may be used for the injury.

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons

This site has a link available on the Australian Orthopaedic Association website and features patient tutorials and resources to help them better understand their injury.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

This site has a large collection of workplace health and safety topics and also provides evidence based information on topics specific to certain occupations such as Musculoskeletal disorders in Mining.

Another great place to find relevant information is your professional association website.

If you know of any useful websites or information sources for other allied health professionals please share your knowledge of patient resources by adding a comment below.
