Q-COMP is reviewing the tables of costs for allied health
services provided under the Workers' Compensation and
Rehabilitation Act 2003.
As part of this review, Q-COMP is inviting submissions from
interested stakeholders.
Aim of Review
The aim of the review is to establish fair and reasonable tables
of costs for allied health services under the Workers'
Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
Q-COMP is responsible for determining fair and reasonable fees
payable for medical and rehabilitation services.
Background
In 2010, Q-COMP conducted a review of all allied health tables of
costs. One outcome of the review identified the current practice of
a full review every three (3) years did not allow the 12 Table of
Costs to maintain relevance with current fees and services. To
address this Q-COMP will stagger the reviews of respective tables
of costs every two years. This will ensure that fees and
services remain relevant and enable continued access to providers
for injured workers.
Scope of the review
The review will consider the table of costs utilised by insurers
for services delivered by both registered and non-registered allied
health providers under the Workers' Compensation and
Rehabilitation Act 2003.
The six (6) tables of costs being reviewed in 2012 are:
- Chiropractic services
- Nursing services
- Osteopathy services
- Speech pathology services
- Podiatry services
- Rehabilitation support services
